Laura Dedelow here. Welcome to Earth Eclectic’s 128th episode, dedicated to mycelium and fungi. As a child, I only knew of the Indiana morels and the canned button mushrooms kids picked off their pizza. Pop culture brought awareness of magic mushrooms. Later, while researching health food, I discovered there were lots of edible wild mushrooms other than my dear morels. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I learned mushrooms are the bloom of the wondrous mycelium network, connecting and sustaining human and more-than-human life, Gaia’s worldwide web. My knowledge is no more than a small percentage, a fraction of a fraction of the information that is available, and I hope this show will inspire you, as it has me, to learn about mycelium as we explore related songs, field recordings and more.
