This week on Earth Eclectic, host Laura Dedelow pays tribute to crows, ravens, magpies and other birds who are corvids, partially inspired by an event twenty-five years prior to the curation of this episode. Laura recounts, “I was standing outside my home in Bloomington when a crow landed in front of me and was obviously trying to tell me something. I could tell he was in trouble and called one of my best friends who was volunteering in bird rehabilitation at the time. She came over, picked him up and took him to their crow team who surmised he’d been someone’s pet and either was released or escaped. They took him under their wing and taught him the things a crow should know. A few weeks later my friend updated me and said he’d been able to be released into a ‘murder’, or a family of crows and was thriving. That experience has always stayed with me.” Join us as we explore a sound-rich, corvid-based set of tracks, within the genres of spoken word, singer-songwriter, pagan metal, progressive folk, Celtic, alternative and more.

They provide care and rehabilitation services to most native Indiana wildlife species and they do their best to provide guidance even when they’re not in a position to accept a specific species. WildCare Inc. has limited staff and mostly relies on volunteers to help feed, clean and ensure the best quality of care for their wild patients.
